Come to the Gnome Hammer shop and learn to make three different styles of hammers from 1045 steel. This class will include learning to forge the hammer heads using a mix of a forging press and a self-contained power hammer. Students will also learn how to grind hammer faces on a HouseMade belt grinder. You will also perform heat treating, finishing, and hanging your hammers on hickory handles.
Classes begin at 9AM, and you will forge and finish 3 hammers that you will be able to take home at the end of the class. This is a one-day class. Once you have paid for your class, we will contact to pick a date for your private class.
Things you will need for this class:
safety glasses
respirator
gloves
work boots
long pants (jeans are recommended)
100% cotton shirt/sweatshirt
insulated/cold weather gear for winter months (November-March). The shop is not insulated or heated.
